L’Observateur : Holiday Something Edition
A few months ago, one of my students mentioned a gallery in the Marais where he heard you could apply to have your work sold, so long as you could prove that you had prior exhibition experience. So I sussed it out, and it turned out to be this place on Rue Verrerie that I had stumbled upon when I was here in 2006. Anyway, I wasn’t super-impressed with what they were stocking, which made me think I had a chance of being accepted, so I applied, basically, and now they are selling 23 of my images (limited edition of 30) at the low, low price of 60€ apiece. In the first month they sold seven – out of a possible 690 – which means we’re looking at selling out sometime in 2018. This week, they posted my page, and the URL says “Talor Hollande.” Respect.
Another one of my students – the daughter of the Qatari Ambassador to France – invited me to a reception hosted bySon Excellence M. l’Ambassadeur
Mohamed Jaham Al Kuwari and Madame
on Friday. Regrettably, I don’t think I’m going to make it.
Word to the wise: Leaving too much headroom in a photo makes a person appear short.
E.A.S.T.
For those of you in Austin, Texas between November 14-22, I will be selling photographs in a variety of sizes and prices at Ethan Azarian’s In House Gallery (2514 E. 17th St.) as part of the East Austin Studio Tour (E.A.S.T.). PDF catalog download here.Exhibition : Lignes

The “Lignes” exhibition at Okay Mountain has been extended through September 19. If you would like to stop by and see it, there is an opening for another show called “Polymict” on Saturday, August 15 at 7pm, and the gallery is open Wednesdays from 7-9pm and Saturdays from 12-5pm. There will be another print added to the mix so that the photos can be rearranged into a 4x3 grid on the big wall. They’re $50 apiece.
Exhibition : Lignes
These are the 11 images which were shown in the recent exhibition “Lignes” at Okay Mountain in Austin, Texas. All these shots have appeared on this blog as a “La Photo du Jour,” and were taken in Paris, London, or Austin. They are presented here in the order they were shown (from left to right, now up to down).
The prints are for sale for $50 (18"x12", unframed), if anyone out there in the world wide web is interested. Or, for that matter, any image you see on this blog is for sale at any size you desire, delivered to your door for a reasonable price.
A million thanks to Tim Brown for helping me set up and hang the show.

Quatorze de Catorce
Last night saw the opening of my first-ever photography exhibition. It got a lot of positive feedback and was described by one observer as “fresh.” The photos of the donkeys and the dog were given top props, as it seems most people prefer animals over abstractions.
Putting the show together was a ton of work and cost a lot of money, but I’m dying to try it again with the whole process in mind while I’m shooting, and not as an afterthought.
The show itself was a direct result of having started this mostly-photo blog and the continuing odyssey that is the Photo du Jour, as 13 of the 14 the photos in the show appeared as such, and appear here again in reprise. Below is the info sheet, a map of where the photos were shot, and the 14 images.
